Incredible pair of Memphis inspired torchiere floor lamps by industrial designer Ron Rezek from 1984/5. I started on these almost 5 years ago by reaching out to Ron for information and approval of the paint scheme. I think there is obvious inspiration drawn from Sottsass design, so I went with it fully. These are made from steel square tubing and plate, and the domes have been covered in high heat primer and enamel, though I've replaced the halogens with LEDs . Really cool design, and fun provenance as well.

"He earned his bachelor's degree in Industrial Design and a Master's in Fine Arts in Industrial Design at UCLA. There, his professors included designers Henry Dreyfuss, Charles Eames, Neils Different and Don Chadwick. In 1970, while still in graduate school, he designed an innovative lifeguard rescue device that is still being used today (the red buoy we all know from Baywatch) and he founded Surf-Saving International to manufacture and sell the device. In 1978, he started Ron Rezek Lighting in Culver City, CA, which he sold in 2004."
